Challenges Everywhere

As this year is starting to wind down, even though we still have December, I am seeing all of these new reading challenges pop up. (They may not be new, but they are new to me) I am so tempted to sign up because I know I will be introduced to new books, new authors and more bloggers and their interesting ideas. But my TBR list is already out of control and my wishlist is out of control. I mean I have at least 200 books on my shelves that I've never read. I am not kidding.

I am currently participating in The Contemps Challenge and the 2011 Debut Author Challenge where I plan to read at least 33 books. I've read some really amazing books through The Contemps Challenge and know that many more are in store in the next year. But again I am tempted to do another challenge and there are so many to choose from.

Which challenges are you signed up for? What made you pick one over another? I'd like to know what you think. Maybe it will help me decide if I should sign-up for another challenge and which one.

  1. I'll actually be hosting a challenge for 2011! It's the E-Book Reading Challenge. The sign-up sheet will go up on my blog on December 1st. I hope you'll join!

  2. I am signed up for both the Debut Authors and the Contemps Challenges. I like that these have some cross-over titles and that (for the Contemps one) the authors are so involved. I also love (for the Debut one) that lots of new followers have found my blog through the Story Siren. That's a big bonus in my book!

Keep us updated on your progress!

  3. I'm signed up for The Book Vixen's Outdo Yourself 2011 reading challenge. It's to challenge yourself to read more than you did in 2010. I challenged myself to read a book a week! hahaha. Oh well, I think the point of a challenge is to aim high. :-)

  6. I love this kind of thing, but you're right that it's important to keep things fun by not getting too overcommitted! When I finish my grad program, I'm going to "treat" myself to lots of challenges. Until then, I'm just fighting to keep my head above water.

  7. It appears that we all like to participate in challenges. It keeps our reading choices interesting! I may have found the perfect one called Off the Shelf - you read books that you already own. It will kick my TBR pile in the buttocks! There may be a way to incorporate the E-book challenge and the Outdo Yourself 2011 challenges too! Now I am getting over my head! Thanks for the suggestions.

  9. I've signed up for a few, and I'm debating about hosting or just having my own personal challenge. Who knows, maybe someone else has the same idea as me & will host it? (my challenge is to re-read old childhood favorites. So the books can be from almost any decade, as long as they were old childhood favorites)
