Provisions and Paperbacks Book Club: 2012 Recap

Provisions and Paperbacks, my book club, read a lot of great books this year. My friends and I started the book club in 2011 and I brought our discussions here in 2012.

Here are all of the books we read in this year. I've included some quick thoughts, links to reviews and our discussion posts. I've always thought there isn't anything lonelier than reading a book and not having anyone to share it with. Feel free to share your thoughts.

This one brought me to tears. I stayed up late to finish it. Cried.
Went to sleep. Woke up and cried some more.
This was a book club favorite.

After finishing Delirium, we had to read the follow-up. Again, this one blew us away. Several of us were so enthusiastic about Lauren Oliver's books that we even took a road trip to one of her book signings at Quail Ridge Bookstore.

Meeting Lauren and listening to her talk about books and writing and her upcoming projects was fantastic.

Reading about the ups and downs of these young characters in high school was a lot of fun. In addition to discussing the book, we spent a lot of our time sharing our own high school "horror" stories.

A vast difference from all of the young adult books that we usually read. For many of us, it was the first time to read a book my Holly Chamberlin, but we agree that she is an author whose books we will continue to read.

Timepiece by Myra McEntire
We would like to thank Myra McEntire for:
1. staying away from the Love Triangle
2. writing Timepiece from Kaleb's perspective
3. giving us Lily - yes, she was pretty awesome in Hourglass
but she is pretty kickass in Timepiece

A great introduction to steampunk. Excited to read the follow-up The Tinker King.

I'm interested to know if any of my readers have a book club of their own. What books did you read in 2012? Do you have any suggestions for us in 2013?
