One weekend together could change everything…

When her friend called to tell her about the funeral, Cassie wanted to say no. She had enough to handle with her own hollow existence. But she knew she should pay her respects to her old Wilderness Program counselor…as long as her ex, Ben, wouldn’t be there.

Except Ben is there. Still gorgeous, still angry, and still able to penetrate her defenses with one intense stare. All the reasons they left each other in a flurry of heartache start to fall away over one long, snowy weekend.

But tough Cassie can’t truly open up to Ben when she knows confessing her secrets will leave her raw, defenseless. And the possibility of forever might not be enough to gamble on all the impossibilities of now.

My Thoughts

When Lisa Burstein announced she was writing a follow-up to Dear Cassie, I knew that I would have to read it. It's funny, before the announcement, I didn't realize how much I missed the characters, Cassie and Ben. But as soon as I knew there was more to their story, I obsessively checked to see when the book would be published. I waited as patiently as I possibly could and thankfully, Lisa posted teasers every once in a while to tide her readers over. The day the e-ARCs came out, nothing else mattered until I knew what had become of Cassie and Ben.

I loved, loved, loved this book. The Possibility of Us was a completely satisfying follow-up to Dear Cassie. Cassie is still stubborn Cassie, and Ben is still hopeful Ben. We get to experience their heartache as they finally realized that "they" can become a f*#king "them." (I can't believe I'd forgotten just how much Cassie loves to drop the f-bomb.)

I like how the story was told from both Cassie and Ben's perspectives. I am a huge fan of duel storytelling because we get to know how both characters perceive the same situation.  We get to learn a lot more about Ben and his feelings for Cassie and what he thinks about them no longer being together. This story is just as much Ben's as it is Cassie's.

One of my favorite things about The Possibility of Us was the intimacy between Ben and Cassie. Kissing scenes really get readers going and I am a fan of those too, but Lisa Burstein writes some of the best hand holding scenes I've ever read. So much is communicated in this seemingly simple gesture. I will take some hand holding with Ben any day.

With each book, Lisa makes me an even bigger fan of her writing. Like with The Possibility of Us, I will anxiously await her next story and the characters she will introduce to the world.
