Liam Westbury has the world at his feet. He’s the quintessential golden boy. He’s the superstar quarterback for Beaumont High. His girl, Josie, is head cheerleader. He has his choice of colleges just waiting for him. Except he’s suffocating from all the pressure he’s under and no one understands.

Liam Page is the heartthrob he never wanted to be. He’s successful, smart and in demand by record companies and his adoring fans. Music is his passion, his love, but something’s missing. His nights are lonely and he longs for the girl he left behind. Seeing her in every face in the crowd haunts him with the knowledge that she hates him. Going home has never been an option until now.

Be there when Liam Westbury becomes Liam Page and follow the highs and lows of the Quarterback turned Rockstar as he finds a way back to Beaumont in this prequel to Forever My Girl.

My Thoughts

I've been a huge fan of the Beaumont books from the moment I read Forever My Girl. The love story of Liam and Josie touched my heart and it is a book that I continue to reread again and again. When I found out that Heidi McLaughlin was writing a new book, a prequel to Forever My Girl, and from Liam's perspective, I was immediately intrigued. I'd always wanted to know about Liam's rise to fame and with Finding My Way, I got it.

I don't think it is possible to write my thoughts about Finding My Way without referring to Forever My Girl - the stories are entwined and I'll make references to both throughout this review.

I read a lot of young adult books and that is probably the reason why Forever My Girl flashback scenes were some of my favorite parts of that book. I loved reading about the young Liam and Josie. In Finding My Way, Heidi outdoes herself and adds depth by giving us those moments again and what led up to them and what happens after. It isn't a repetition of something that we've already read. New meaning is given to those moments and we get to see how complex Liam and Josie's relationship really is.

What I love most about Finding My Way is how Heidi has given us a vulnerable Liam. He is young and unsure. Heidi captures that doubt of adolescence, of Liam becoming an adult and making decisions and choosing a path that he wants to pursue. He doesn't always know if the decisions he makes are the right ones, but he has to take a chance to find out.

I loved reading about Liam in L.A. and seeing him navigating his way through the music scene. During this time, we are also introduced to Harrison and I found myself smiling as I read the scenes he was in because he was just exuded this coolness that is true to the Harrison I know in the other books of the series. I'm happy that Heidi gave us some of Liam's rock star, "panty-dropping" persona. We got to see glimpses of it in Forever My Girl, but I liked reading the bad-boy side of him. I knew Jimmy wasn't the only one getting with the ladies.

Heidi answered a lot of the questions I had while reading Forever My Girl with Finding My Way and answered questions I didn't even realize I had. Finding My Way brings the story full circle and made me fall in love with Liam all over again. He's still the same Liam that I fell in love with in Forever My Girl - I just know him a little better now.

There are very few adult series that I continue to read as the series progresses whether is it because I get bored with the characters or the storyline, or you know, so many books, so little time. But as I've said before, these are characters that I don't want to let go of. I love reading about the characters of Beaumont and the stories that Heidi likes to tell. As long as she keeps writing, I'll keep reading.

Finding My Way is an amazing addition to the Beaumont series. A must-read. I loved it!!!
