Three Brothers by Nicole Williams

Today is the last day of the THREE BROTHERS review tour. I am scheduled to post a review today but was unable to finish the book in time to post a review. Even though I'm not sharing a review, I want to share the book and a little teaser. I do plan to review THREE BROTHERS so that will be coming soon. Until then, check out THREE BROTHERS by Nicole Williams.

THREE BROTHERS
by Nicole Williams
Publication Date: January 20, 2015

New Adult Romance

I grew up with three brothers. They weren’t tied to me by blood, but our connection went beyond genetics or bearing the same last name. Our connection was forged the summer I turned thirteen, the summer my mom ended her life and left me in the custody of John Armstrong, a man I’d never met. Packing all I owned in a couple of boxes, I left the familiarity of the big city and headed west to Red Mountain Ranch, set in a lonely valley outside of Jackson Hole.

Nothing was as it seemed at Red Mountain—it didn’t take long for me to figure that out. John was kind to me but distant, as if he was afraid to let anyone get too close. His three teenage sons had their own devices for keeping love as far away as they could. The eldest distracted himself with cheap relationships that had a shelf-life of one night. The middle son threw himself into the rigor of running a ranch, and the third wielded cruelty and mind-games in his quest to keep people from getting close.

Time has gone by, and I’ve spent those years trying to forget the brother I’d fallen for—the biggest mistake of my life.

Finally, I’ve moved on. Finally, I’m back. But what I didn’t realize was that running away from the wrong brother meant I’d also run away from the right one. The one who’d been there for me all along, waiting in his brother’s shadow for the day I either would or could move on.

But a decade is a long time to wait. Has the brother I should have chosen all of those years ago moved on too? Am I about to discover that my biggest mistake wasn’t falling in love with the wrong brother, but failing to return the love of the right one sooner?

Does unrequited love have an expiration date?

I’m about to find out.

Author’s Note: This book is a “sweet” romance that isn’t overly sexy. Fans of Lost & Found will be interested in Three Brothers.

About the Author

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the CRASH
series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES
(S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about
everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations.
I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a
better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so. I’m one of those people who
still believe in true love and soul mates, and would rather keep my head in the
clouds any day over having my feet firmly on the ground.

Some Amish communities aren't so cozy.

Whispers From The Dead is the powerful and thrilling sequel to Lamb to the Slaughter in the Amish mystery series, Serenity’s Plain Secrets. Sheriff Serenity Adams and Daniel Bachman are once again partnered up in a criminal investigation, when they travel to a northern Amish settlement that has been riddled by arsons for the past two decades. Serenity quickly discovers that there is a lot more going on than just barns being set on fire in the touristy community of Poplar Springs. And this group of Amish has their own secrets to hide. Serenity begins to unravel an extensive criminal underworld that threatens to destroy everything that the simple people of Poplar Springs hold dear, and once again puts her own life in jeopardy. And even though Serenity tries desperately to avoid it, things begin heating up between her and Daniel, making her wonder if true love and happiness are really within her grasp.

*Some language and romantic sexual content.

My Thoughts

Whispers from the Dead, the newest title in the Serenity's Plain Secrets series, is an intense mystery, full of danger and intrigue. I've come to look forward to reading novels by this author and about the lives of the characters she creates. One of the things I love is that Hopkins is a master at creating an opening scene that grabs the reader immediately, leaves them rattled and then curious for more.

Another thing I love about this series is the main character, Serenity. I like reading about her because she isn't a character that lets things happen to her. She's a take charge kind of woman. She is gutsy and instinctual. She takes chances, but she isn't always all business. Her inner dialogues reveal her humor, but her longing too.

When I finished the Lamb to the Slaughter, I wanted to know more about the relationship between Serenity and Daniel and I got it. Serenity is continuously at battle with her feelings for Daniel because of past relationships, but she is beginning to see that Daniel shouldn't be judged on the actions of other men from her past. There are few interactions between them, but it is obvious they are important to each other.

If the first two books of this series are any indication of how the each book will continue, each story will take place in a different community. I really like this technique, but I enjoyed some of the characters in this book that I wouldn't mind revisiting them in the future. (And there are a lot of characters in this book, it took a while to get them all sorted out and remember who was who and what connection/relation the characters had to each other.)

I really loved Whispers from the Dead. I don't want to say that is my favorite by this author because I find myself saying that with each book that I read, but this one is near the top. I am a fan of Karen's books, her writing style, the Amish setting, and her characters. I will continue to read her books as fast as she can publish them and share them with readers.

FAVORITES GIVEAWAY HOP

When I signed up to participate in the Favorites Giveaway Hop, hosted by StuckInBooks, I knew exactly which books I wanted to offer for the giveaway.

In the past few years, I have come to love the books by Heidi McLaughlin. From the moment I started reading Forever My Girl, I knew that I'd stumbled on to something really special. My fondness for the characters has grown from book to book. My love for her writing is not limited to the Beaumont Series. She grabbed a hold of my heart with the unconventional love story of Ryan and Hadley in Lost in You. This was the first paperback book that I purchased. Heidi has given her readers many characters to connect with and stories that are moving, inspirational, dramatic, and romantic.

I have multiple copies of these books. My signed copies. Extra copies to loan to friends to read. I have all of the e-books and most of the audiobooks that are available. When I'm looking for a book to reread, I gravitate to these books for the characters and their stories. She is a favorite "Go-To" author and I love sharing these books with readers any chance I can get.

To find out just how awesome these books are and why I love them, you can check out my reviews which are linked here:

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read with My Book Club

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because they are particularly fond of lists. I am too so that is why I am participating this week.

Top Ten Books to Read with My Book Club

  1. Never, Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher - I’ve read that this book messes with your mind and what better book to read with other people so you can share your thoughts. This is our next book club selection.

  2. Requiem by Lauren Oliver - My book club read the first two books of the Delirium series together. I don’t know why we didn’t do the same for the third. I’ve read it already, but I could definitely read it again.

  3. Here with Me by Heidi McLaughlin - I’ve recommended all of Heidi’s books to my book  club and many of the members have read her books, but we’ve never read one as a group. This is her most recent book, so why not start with it.

  4. The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty - Our last book club selection was Big Little Lies and we all loved it and agreed we would read more by this author.

  5. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - we all work in an office environment and I figure that we can all identify with this book on some level. Also I must introduce them to Rainbow Rowell - I love her books!

  6. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn - We can read the book and then go see the movie together.

  7. Bumped by Megan McCafferty - For the simple reason that this book is by Megan McCafferty

  8. Thumped by Megan McCafferty - see above

  9. Across the Universe by Beth Revis - I’m pretty sure that half of us already have this book because we planned to read it, but we haven’t read it yet.

  10. All Broke Down by Cora Carmack - We love Cora’s books. We read All Lined Up together and found it to be a lot of fun.

Once burned… Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might’ve been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn’t been with her. For the past eight years I’ve been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I’d decided there wasn’t any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her. Twice shy… I’d already found the love of my life, but I’d lost that love forever. And I’d been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again. That is, until I find out who he really is…and by then, it’s far too late to correct the mistakes we’ve already made.
